Chris Weston always had a passion for photography, after he was given his first camera by his father aged 12, and that passion continued throughout his lifetime.
At 22, he worked as an electrician at the 1970 Isle of Wight Pop Festival, and used his camera to record the building of the stage, as well as the performers and crowd.
In 2000 he decided to publish the now famous large black & white panoramic photo of the 1970 IOW Pop Festival as a limited edition of 750, each one signed & numbered. These limited editions sold out before he passed away, in 2017.
Chris also produced 25 of the same image on boxed canvas. There are a very small number of
these left available to purchase.
In 2009, Chris decided to publish a book of photos and images taken at the 1970 IOW Pop
Festival, “The Last Great Event”, as a limited edition of 950 copies. These images form an
authentic social history of this event for the many people who can claim “I Was There”.
Individual images, mounted in cream mounts, 16 x 20 inches, are available to purchase
separately.
Chris sadly passed away in 2017 after a two year battle with Motor Neurone Disease.
His legacy lives on in his iconic photographs and book.
